Urban Ethnic is a reaction to todays uninsipired high street retail environment. Walk into the home and gift departments in most chain store retailers and you will find much of the same on offer with a few tweaks. With almost 80% of what is sourced in these departments coming from large factories in China, it would be highly unlikely that the product assortment would be remarkably different or striking.

At Urban Ethnic our main objective is to source a combination of commissioned, unusual and 'found'  items that are hand made by skilled artisans in small runs. We make every effort to source eco-friendly and fairly traded products from small producers across Asia and Africa.  Natural, sustainable materials and traditional skills remain the primary motive for product selection. Urban Ethnic does not source anything mass produced.

We want to connect the maker with the consumer because that is what makes for heartening and inspired retail.
